How Betting Works
Common Bet Types on s888 Sports
If you're new to sports betting or just getting familiar with how it works on s888, here's a plain-language guide to the most common bet types you'll encounter across different sports categories.
Match Winner (1X2)
The most straightforward bet — you pick which team or player wins the match. In football, the "X" option covers a draw. In basketball and boxing, it's usually a two-way market between the two sides.
Handicap Betting
Handicap markets level the playing field between a favourite and an underdog by giving one side a virtual head start or deficit. Popular in basketball, where large score differences between teams are common.
Over / Under (Totals)
Rather than picking a winner, you bet on whether the total combined score or stat — points, goals, rounds — will be over or under a number set by the platform. A classic bet for basketball and football fans.
Outright / Tournament Winner
Bet on which team or player will win an entire tournament or season before it concludes. This type of bet is available for competitions like the PBA Governors' Cup, NBA Championships, and football league titles.
Parlay / Accumulator
Combine multiple selections into one bet. All your picks need to be correct for the parlay to pay out, but the potential return is higher than placing each bet separately. A popular choice for players who follow multiple matches.
Live / In-Play Betting
Place bets on a match while it's in progress. Odds update in real time based on what's happening on the court or field. This is one of the most engaging ways to bet on fast-moving sports like basketball and football.
